At the same auction as the AHS wintermutze was this flakhelfer cap..
Not uncommon, but most only have a RB number and not a RZM etiket.
Funny detail is the badge at the side. But could be attached later on.

I know.. but why... it is an original cap and badge.. no need to do that... bumping the price was not the goal I think..

From 1936 (Reichsbefehl Ausgabe 36/I dated 16.10.1936) the Arbeiterjugend badge was only permitted on civilian clothing. This was repeated in 1938 (Reichsbefehl RJF 6/III dated 18.2.1938). In 1943 an order was issued which stated the following: "The wearing of the old HJ badge (rising sun) is forbidden on civilian clothing and on the uniform. Manufacture and distribution of the badge has ceased".

With the above in mind, the Arbeiterjugend badge on the cap must have been placed there post-war. Still a bonus though.

Thanks Garry,

That makes sense!
I consider it as a bonus indeed and leave it there to tell its postwar story..

It is a nice badge and I did not have one in my collection yet.
